Having been in bed battling flu the day before, when I woke up on show day, I was feeling completely awful. But, I was determined to not let ANYTHING stop me from getting on stage with my friends and showing Madame JoJo's what we are made of!
It was a whirlwind of a day with hair, make up, pizza and giggles - followed by nerves, frantic last minute rehearsals, and a shit load of glitter!
Our deliciously naughty routine was called 'Tease-ster Eggs', our chocolate treats have an unexpected, adverse effect on us and we cannot resist the urge to take our clothes off!
We got glammed up before heading out for a pre-show lunch of PIZZA!
Who says Showgirls don't eat?!
Heads turned as we strutted to Soho with our kit bags in tow!
Me working the staircase in Madame JoJo's!
It was wonderful to see the East London showtime group and the Spotlight ladies perform their routines, and to see established performers strut their stuff. I hopefully will have some wonderful show photos to share with you, thanks to the amazing Tigz Rice who worked her camera magic!
Here we are waiting for the show to get underway, keeping our nerves and butterflies in check!
I can only sing praises for The Cheek of It! and the courses they run. It was one of the most exhilarating feelings I've ever experienced, being on stage with my new friends and graduating from our course with a shimmy and some major rock-out sexiness. Trixibelle Firecracker was an incredible, supportive teacher and I'm pretty sure she was cheering the loudest for us when we hit the stage!
I would love to go on to do the Spotlight advanced course in September, so my goal will be to work hard and earn money for that. In the mean time I have made so many wonderful new friends, so I will be going out with them to see many more burlesque shows - but this time it won't just be for fun, it will be for inspiration and ideas to put towards routines of my own.
I will sign off in true Cheekette style...
Love and Shimmies,
Ophelia Bataille
