Post-Art School Life So Far...

Untitled

Well, it's been a while! I've had an eventful summer trying to get my life on track after finishing my degree at the Slade.
My priority has been to find steady work and begin generating an income, I've been reading this post I wrote back in June as motivation. I started a wonderful job as a gallery assistant at the Serpentine Gallery in the Sturtevant exhibition, it's lovely to talk to visitors about art works, and I've worked in the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion which generates so much interest from passers by, it even looks lovely in the rain!

I'm looking forward to working in the next exhibition at the gallery, Arte Povera artist Marisa Merz and the opening of the new Serpentine Sackler Gallery with a blockbuster show by Adrian Viller Rojas

UntitledMore recently, I've been looking for a studio space and am trying to return to my art practice and develop on the ideas behind my series of work from my degree show.
I need to read, I want to research more about female sexuality, hysteria, and female orgasm. I can’t wait for my UCL Alumni library card to come so I can access the books I need.

I also need to watch some films. I’ve recently got a MUBI account which releases a new film everyday available to watch for 30 days, all arts and culture films, indie releases and even some classics and cartoons! So I’m going to put that to good use and get inspired.

So that's where I'm at, it's a frustrating and disheartening place to be, to come out of a degree only to find that in order to make anything happen you need to throw your soul into the machine to work and earn money. I couldn't help but think 'Is this seriously all there is to life? This is it? What a disappointment.'
One day at a time eh?
