Cushion Covers!

Untitled

Today I decided to learn the ways of my sewing machine! Santa brought me a Singer 1409 for Christmas and I had some amazing Alexander Henry fabrics sitting around, so I put them all to use and made a couple of cushion covers!

The last time I have used a sewing machine was way back in years 7-9 textiles classes, so I'm really proud of how quickly I picked up the Singer's functions. Although she is a beautifully simple model, so that probably helped a lot too!

The process for making a cushion cover was also something I dragged from my memory bank of a year 8 project I did. It's a folded insert so it actually wasn't that complicated to work out, it was just the measurements I struggled with a little!

One vital pinning technique I remembered from school; perpendicular = GOOD!

Here are the two covers, I ditched the plain covers off of a couple of cushions on my bed and dressed them with my colourful creations! They certainly brighten up my bed and I LOVE them!

The larger cushion - the back has a couple of buttons and a wool loop to fasten the fold as it was gaping a little bit.

Now that I've mastered this I think everyone will be receiving cushions from me for their birthdays until I work out how to do something else!
